Permanent Magnet Generator
Extol Wind turbines are equipped with variable speed permanent magnet (Nd-Fe-B) multi-pole synchronous generator. Powerful and durable Rare Earth magnets eliminate the need for generator excitation. Permanent magnet synchronous generators have low heat losses. Variable speed makes generator energy efficient. Optimal design results in low harmonics, low torque ripples and low cogging torque. Natural draft of the air-cooled generator saves energy, reduces maintenance and inventory costs. High quality bearings in the generator are also designed for the lifetime of the machine.
